SALMACIS your throne for moments of peace and inspiration
Salmacis, a mythological figure,
a nymph from Phrygia is described in Book IV of Ovid’s Metamorphosis.
It tells a tale of unanswered desire for Hermaphroditus, the son of Hermes & Aphrodite. Eventually they merge ‘Both bodies in a single body mix, a single body with a double sex’. ​

or for those taking a lotus pose to fuse on a celestial level.

The Salmacis prototype was conceived for and first seen at the biennale interior, Kortrijk / BE in 2021

‘I created Salmacis to fulfil a desire, the form took its shape through focusing on the envisioned experience.
I enjoy merging with the seat, through the shadow and light play, I become the cocoon.’
